I have dined at E' Tutto Qua several times since it opened in 2007. As I live in the neighborhood and was born in Italy, it has become a favorite place that always makes me feel comfortable and at home. It is a lovely old bank building with a high ceiling and lots of windows. But the real reason I love this place is the FOOD! They serve dishes prepared like I remember in Italy. Not overly spiced or drowning in sauce, just fresh quality ingredients made into creative dishes that never cease to impress me. You can tell that the pasta was made from scratch, wonderful pappardelle and tonnarelli. I love fish and seafood and their menu is full of great dishes like the Spaghetti Neri, a squid ink pasta with fresh mussels, clams and shrimp. They also do a wonderful appetizer of sea scallops topped with porcini mushrooms and truffle oil...delicious. The thin crusted pizza is the best I have found in San Francisco. I took some visiting friends last week and they are still raving about the roasted duck breast in a balsamic reduction and a daily special of lamb loin filled with eggplant and pesto. Every dish is beautifully presented with a lot of creativity. I give them high marks for using some imagination while staying true to the Italian purity of their kitchen. If you want to find out what is being served in Italy's finest restaurants today, (not 20 years ago) then give this place a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual and the Italian speaking staff are always happy to suggest a good wine to pair with your meal. Last, but not least, the authentic Italian desserts (made in the house) like the tiramisu and panna cotta are a perfect finish. Their espresso and cappuccino is so well made, I can close my eyes and pretend I am back in Rome! Besides lots of locals like myself, I see a lot of out of towners there as well, people of all ages, nationalities and styles. Everyone seems to walk out after dinner with a big smile.
